Dear Parents,

As you may know, The Garden City Primary Schools have adopted the Have You Filled a Bucket Today? Program that has been so successful at Stratford School.  Last month, I visited each classroom and read aloud the book by the same name by author Carol McLoud.  Afterwards, your children were able to share so many ideas of how they can be “bucket fillers” for each other!  Examples included inviting a friend to play at recess, being nice to someone, helping a classmate.  In order to encourage our students to “fill each other’s buckets” on a daily basis, we have hung a display in Homestead’s front lobby of a rainbow made of our students’ hand prints spanning from bucket to bucket above the caption “Did you fill a bucket today?”  As in the book, the rainbow represents the idea that as you fill someone else’s bucket, your own bucket gets filled because-...when you make someone else feel good, you feel good too!  We appreciate your support throughout the year as parents, teachers, and staff encourage and recognize our students as bucket fillers to make our school a better place to be.

 Sincerely,

 Dr. Suzanne Viscovich
